Oracle today announced that it has integrated its value chain planning (VCP) apps into its JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software through a Process Integration Pack (PIP). The upgrade is targeted at three verticals -- manufacturing, high technology, and retail goods distribution, an Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) said Lenley Hensarling, Oracle group vice president and general manager, in an e-mail to InternetNews.com.
"Oracle's competitors cannot claim the depth and breadth of our planning offering and pre-built integrations to Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP applications, certified by Oracle Development," Hensarling added.
The PIP brings four key features to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. With sales and operations planning, customers can engage multiple departments, build scenarios, and measure metrics in real time. The inventory optimization feature helps customers determine how much inventory to hold and where to hold it in the supply chain.
A collaborative planning feature "enables collaborative forecasting and replenishment with contract manufacturers by sharing order forecast and receiving supply commits, and enables supplier managed inventory processes," Hensarling said.
The analytics-based performance management feature allows customers and their suppliers to work with metrics. "The real differentiation to common approaches is that rather than 'rear view mirror' based analysis, it combines both past performance and predictive analytics to determine how performance is expected to be if a given scenario is executed," Hensarling said.
Finally, the Demand Signal Repository feature tracks inventory at points of sale so that managers can see how their product is doing in real time.
The upgrade is free to some. "Customers that currently own Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Supply Chain Business Modeler can migrate their licenses to a Value Chain Planning to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Process Integration Pack (PIP) license for free (up to a specified maximum)," Hensarling said. |
